In this post I will be looking at different adaptations of Great Expectations, and into the make-up and hair designs they used to depict the character Estella. I intend that this research will help me develop my final design for the looks of the character.

For the young Estella they have made her look like she is soft in nature but when you see her move and her tone of voice you can see she is a sharp and cruel character. Her hair is centred and has soft loose curls, very romantic in look which is important as she was meant to draw men in, like poor Pip.
She is a great actress in this adaptation, she makes me think of 'Verruca Salt', from 'Charlie and The Chocolate Factory' selfish and cold.

When she gets older she still has the essence of childish behaviour and look down upon Pip, in the way she toys with his emotions, and heart, though she does smile more in this film than many of the other adaptations.

Older Estella - Holliday Grainger:
In this adaptation you get to see a venerable side when she tears up in some scenes when she gets older with Pip, I think I like this version the most for Estella as she has that change in personality like she wants to be happy but has to stick to what Miss Havisham taught her.

Older Estella - Vanessa Kirby:
This actress is very good as well like Holliday Grainger, she shows you she is heartless but also in some places that she is human and has the sense of vulnerability that only Pip can see.
