Through this time period, hairstyles did stay very much the same with slight alterations; at the begging of the century the hair was very much made to be sleek, curls lay at the sides of their faces and be the look of "perfection".
As the times changed the hair was taken back the curls softer and higher buns, plus more accessories. As you can see from my sketches below; and from portraits of women at the time:

In class we had a go at some of these styles, It is quite hard to get the curls so perfect and so tight to the face but after a lot of practice I think I god the hang of some of the looks:
First Attempt:
Second attempt:
Attempt at an a Polo Knot / Bun
With this look, I was so pleased how it came out, the way I did this look was;
- Firstly I sectioned all the hair: middle parting, two sections at the front of the face, and a horse shoe section at the back of the head put into a ponytail.
- I took three sections at the front of the head on both right and left sides from the centre parting and pinned them into place to cool. I left the two lover parts on the front of the fringe loos for the end.
- I then curled the rest of the bottom half of the head in tight loop curls.
- With the ponytail I curled also and pinned into place and made loose, to make that romantic look they went for.
- With the front curls I loosened and brushed the curls together and pinned into the back of the head.
- With the lower half of the front fringe I curled the ends of the hair and also pinned into the back of the hair.
I love the outcome, it is romantic and sophisticated, it would be a great look for Estella!
