Final Evaluation for Great Expectations & A Dark Love

Project Evaluations

Great Expectations

Looking back at when we where first assigned the brief of ‘Make-up in Motion’ it was a great chance to try and show our skills, of in-depth research, how we can achieve continuity looks and the use of different mediums.

When starting the project, I wanted to make sure that I did thorough research into the time period we where looking at, to help guide me to my final piece. I feel that my ideas and work has stayed at a steady pace and haven’t gone on a different tangent. I new what I was wanting to achieve and how to get their. I think this has helped me keep up to date, and believe in the ideas I had for each of the looks.

Looking back at the research material I have found, used and been influenced by, has been ample, I used what I thought was necessary to get to my goal. Charles dickens has been the main influencer through this project; his descriptive writing of each character we where assigned to create, helped me in the way I perceived how they would look. Without this I think it may have been more difficult for me.

My skills have developed throughout this term, especially within my hair designs and techniques. I am really proud of my Estella look, it took a lot of trial and error to achieve and lots of research.

Overall, if I where to do this project again I would be more careful in the continuity of hair, I was disappointed with the final outcome as they didn’t quite match up, however, I feel that my work was good and my skills and eye has become sharper to see what it to be corrected and made to look better.

A Love of the Dark; Claudia & Quentin

The theme for the second part of this project was to be creative in the way of adapting two ‘premade’ characters into a different setting and creating their looks from the influence of a TV series.

This was a challenge for me; I did get quite stuck in how I would place them in my chosen series and how they would look and change to the new setting. The development of my ideas has been a time consuming, but once we had, had our presentations, I felt more confident in my ideas, as I had researched more into the chosen series, key words and looks I could adapt.

My work has changed throughout the project due to me not understanding it straight away, but with determination and research into different looks and ideas has helped me get to the conclusion.

When looking at my main inspiration, it’s mostly consisted of horror films, the chosen TV series and found images from other artists. I have combined all that has helped me, and what we have been taught in our lessons to achieve my final looks.

Overall, I think that even after all the stress at the beginning, my work has come through and shows the skills taught and how I have created a new look with the information given and found. I am really proud of the outcomes and how my blog portrays the knowledge I have gained throughout.
